Zukunftstag 2018
On April 26, 2018, the "Zukunftstag" took place throughout Germany. This day serves as a vocational and study orientation. Thus the students were shown the diverse future and career opportunities at a university. On this day, the Otto-von-Guericke University opened laboratories, lectures and test halls to show interested girls and boys the diverse study and career paths that are available at our university.
The Chair Electric Power Networks and Renewable Energy was represented with two program contributions.
From 10:00 to 12:00 Mrs. Gast presented the functional sequences of a control room in the context of the session "We are controlling the power grid of the future". As a result, the versatility of the energy market, the structure of the electricity grid and the daily challenges for network operators were addressed. A live demonstration in which the simulated network was led to the limits of resilience and subsequently returned to a stable and uncritical state with targeted countermeasures, completed the first session and illustrated both the complex as well as the time-critical tasks of an employee in a control room.
From 13 to 15 o'clock, Dr. Heuer presented the operation of a fuel cell within the second programme item "Fuel cells – energy for today?". Both the energy production and the possible uses of the generated energy, such as for use in vehicles or for the energy supply of houses were presented. The commissioning of its own fuel cell in the fuel cell laboratory rounded off the event.
