SmartMES plus excursion to the NEXOGAS biogas plant
As part of the SmartMES plus project, a technical visit was conducted to the NEXOGAS biogas plant in Ebendorf near Magdeburg. The guided tour provided valuable insights into modern operational concepts for biogas plants and their role in enabling flexible and integrated energy systems.

Particular attention was given to the interaction between biogas upgrading, the combined heat and power (CHP) plant, biomethane injection into the natural gas grid, and the district heating pipeline supplying a nearby hotel. The visit highlighted the potential of modern biogas plants as key components of future multi-energy systems and provided valuable input for the ongoing research activities within the SmartMES plus project.
