Excursion to Avacon and its substation
On June 3, 2024, students and employees of Otto von Guericke University visited Avacon Netz GmbH in Salzgitter. They were able to gain exciting insights into the day-to-day work of employees at the grid control center, the heart of the site. In addition, interesting lectures were given by experts on topics such as “Planning and construction of special grids” and “Secondary technology”.

After lunch, the group of visitors then traveled to the Helmstedt substation, which supplies around 2 million customers with electricity. There they were given a tour of the operations building and the outside facilities, and a switching process demonstration took place, controlled from the grid control center in Salzgitter.
