LENA at the IEEE PES GM 2024 in Seattle

06.08.2024 -

The IEEE PES General Meeting is one of the most important conferences in the field of electrical power engineering and took place this year from 22 to 25 July in Seattle, Washington. The LENA Chair was represented by Prof Martin Wolter, Mr Martin Fritsch and Mr Christoph Andres.

Mr Martin Fritsch and Mr Christoph Andres presented a conference paper in the poster session on the topic: "Inductive Energy Harvester with Saturation-Controlled Maximum Power Point Tracking". This is a method developed to optimise the extraction of magnetic field energy from a medium-voltage cable in order to be able to supply sensors for permanent grid status monitoring with sufficient energy in the future. The research work presented aroused the interest of numerous conference participants and led to many interesting conversations and discussions with scientists and industry representatives from all over the world.

Prof Martin Wolter chaired a four-hour panel on "Machine Learning and Physical-Informed Techniques for Dynamic Security Assessment of Changing Grid Dynamics". He opened the session with an interesting presentation on the topic of "Methods to Fast Dynamic Security Assessment" and was thus able to provide insights into current research topics at the LENA Chair.
