Participation in the ISGT Asia 2024 in India
The 13th IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies, Asia Conference (IEEE PES ISGT 2024), sponsored by the IEEE Power & Energy Society, took place from 10 to 13 November 2024 in Bengaluru, India. Eric Glende was there for the LENA Chair and presented a scientific paper. The conference provided a platform for exchange between representatives from energy supply companies, industry, academia and research to discuss challenges of decarbonisation and integration of renewable energy in future power grids.
Successful graduation of M.Sc. Mauro dos Santos Ortiz doctorate
On 7 August 2024, M.Sc. Mauro Dos Santos Ortiz successfully defended his dissertation. This was concluded with the traditional walk to the Otto von Guericke monument at the Alter Markt. This was the start of the so-called ‘Cotutelle’ procedure for the LENA Chair. This means that the doctoral candidate is supervised on the same thesis at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria and at Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg and completes their doctorate at both locations in an integrated doctoral procedure.
LENA at the SEPOC 2024 in Brazil
The 16th Seminar on Power Electronics and Control (SEPOC 2024) took place from 20 to 23 October 2024 at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) in Brazil and was represented by Anuraq Sharma, a master's student of the LENA Chair. This hybrid format conference focuses on advances in power electronics and control, with the 2024 theme being ‘Smart Energy Systems for the Future: Optimising Control and Efficiency’, which focuses on innovations in control systems, smart grids and energy efficiency.
LENA at the PESS 2024 in Dresden
The IEEE Power and Energy Student Summit (PESS) 2024 conference took place from October 21-23 in Dresden’s historical city center. The event, which was held in the cosy setting of the Bärenzwinger student club, offered students in the field of power and electrical engineering an ideal platform for in-depth discussions and networking. Representing the LENA chair were Dr. Leonardo Nogueira Fontoura da Silva, visiting researcher, along with students Renata Rodrigues Lautert and João Pedro Scherer Cipriani.
LENA at the ISGT Europe 2024 in Dubrovnik
IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies (ISGT) Europe 2024 is a flagship conference that took place in Dubrovnik, Croatia from 14 to 17 October and focused on the latest developments, trends and innovations in the field of smart grids. It provides a central platform for shaping the future of the modern power grid, particularly through the integration of renewable energy and decentralised energy sources.
