The LENA Chair visited Mekelle University in Ethiopia from October 18 to 23 to research the integration of photovoltaic systems into Ethiopian grid structures. The DFG-funded project aims to adapt solar energy systems to the local conditions in Ethiopia, using German experience. It includes work packages on improving forecasts, developing grid concepts, system security and analyzing energy policy.

The IEEE PES General Meeting is one of the flagship conferences in the field of electrical power engineering, bringing together thousands of electrical engineers and scientists from around the world every year. The aim of the conference is to provide an international forum for experts to promote, share, and discuss various issues and developments in the field of electrical power engineering. This year’s General Meeting took place from July 16^th to 20^th in Orlando, Florida in the USA.

The IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies, North America (ISGT NA 2023) conference is a forum to discuss the latest issues, trends, and innovative technologies for the decarbonized resilient grid of the future.

LENA staff took part in this year's "Dresden Circle" June 13^th to 15^th, which was held on the island of Helgoland this year. In addition to the group from Magdeburg, colleagues from Dresden, Duisburg and Hanover also took part, as they do every year

We are excited to announce the opening of the IEEE PES (Power and Energy Society) Student Branch Chapter at Otto von Guericke University. This chapter aims to provide students with opportunities to learn and expand their knowledge in the field of power and energy systems.
